Here’s What is Sorely Missed In Business Today
Holy Smokes eh!!
We are at the halfway point of the first month of the year. That means we are 1/24th of the way through the year.
Quick quiz:
- Do you have clear, written goals for what you want to accomplish this year?
- Do you have a clear plan on how to get there?
- Have you been taking positive action and measuring progress?
If your answer is yes, congratulations, you are well on your way to blowing it out this year!
If your answer is no to any of these, here’s what I want you to do:
- take out a hardcover book, something with substance – like the Bible, or “Awaken The Giant Within” by Anthony Robbins
- repeatedly bash yourself over the head with it
- keep going until your head hurts so bad that you want to stop the nonsense and start taking action.
Holy smokes, how’s that for being nice eh?!! :)
Obviously I’m joking here… but not that much.
I talked with several people in December that said they have BIG goals this year. I politely listened and nodded my head. They said they had a plan and come the new year they were going to make it happen.
When I checked with them to see how it’s going, only a very small amount had actually made changes. The majority are still “getting ready” or “analyzing options” or “still getting clear about what I want, THEN I will make it happen” … blah, blah, blah.
Here’s the deal. Life is short!
I am reminded of this constantly. I lost my dad to cancer almost 3 years ago – he was incredibly fit and only 67. I have 3 good friends that have cancer.
My oldest daughter Riley turned 8 last month. Seems like she was just born yesterday. She is almost at the halfway point of me seeing her every day. If you have kids you will relate.
Life is short. Understand this, grasp it. Let this thought breathe life into the goals you have kept locked up inside you.
I am very passionate about moving forward in the direction of what you want in life.
God put special gifts and talents in you.
… don’t play small
… play big ~Contact.FirstName~
… set some goals that excite you, that light you up
… get out of the stands and onto the playing field of life
… always remember, there are people out there counting on you. People need to hear your story. There are people that need what you have
Yes I get fired up about this stuff. My blood bubbles and I feel like William Wallace running across the battlefield with sword drawn, gaze focused, senses heightened & ready to fight for a new freedom. A new level of life.
And what is sorely missed in business today?
Candor.
Dictionary.com defines candor as the state or quality of being frank, open, and sincere in speech or expression; candidness: The candor of the speech impressed the audience.
That is my promise to you. To always speak with candor.
I look around and see so many people saying things to make a buck. I see B.S. flung without thought. I see prospects buy crap because a salesman put a pretty spin on things and shaved a few bucks off the price.
I have always been asked how come my clients love me so much. It comes back to candor. One client just told me how much they enjoy working with me because they know that I am always thinking of their best interest first and foremost.
Imagine what it would be like if the B.S. in life went away.
- How much more productive would you be?
- How much more would your clients, friends or family appreciate you?
- How much easier would it be for you to get to your goals and dreams?
I know that this will never happen in the world.
But I do know that it can happen in your world.
And it starts with you.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, thoroughly used up, totally worn out exclaiming “Wow! What a ride!!”
Here’s to slidin in sideways!

Be great eh!
